Celebrating the 2022 SeasonIt was an amazing season with tons to celebrate. I am so proud of our boys and all they have accomplished this season. TCC Jackets 34 - Roswell Hornets 42As I sit in the darkness wiping the tears from my eyes, I just can’t believe this season is over. I am so fiercely upset; wanting it to be a dream. After everything my family and I have been through this past year, I wanted this season to end with a ring.
Coach Bear Bryant said it best “It’s awfully important to win with humility. It’s also important to lose. I hate to lose worse than anyone, but if you never lose you won’t know how to act. If you lose with humility, then you can come back.” Humility is one of the most difficult things to learn. In 2 Chronicles 7:14, you cannot receive God’s salvation without humility. In fact it is the very first condition for God's response, forgiveness, and healing of His people, is humility. God says that we are to humble ourselves before Him. As a prerequisite for relating to God, humility is like one of those required classes. You know the class, one you don’t want to take but can’t fail because if you do you can’t move forward. Winning and losing are not easy and both require humility. The emotions and work that come from both evoke discipline and dedication to something bigger than yourself. It’s hard to be a coach’s wife. It is not for the faint of heart. It requires humility. Love is impossible without humility. It inspires growth within each person and generates a deeper connection. In the end the relationships you build, the love you share, and the people that become like family make it all worth. To the 7 young men that became big brothers to Gunner, you're worth more than any number on a scoreboard. Coach and I are beyond proud of you. Hold your head high, because there are many things a scoreboard can’t measure, like character, commitment, hard work, and perseverance. Lastly, Thank you Jacket Nation for everything! Your unwavering support means the world. Record: 12-1 Next Opponent: Signing Day 2023 TCC Jackets 49 - St. Pius X Golden Lions 14Every Friday before a break is a crazy one, but this day was awesome! All week long the cheerleaders raised money for the local food bank by selecting different teachers to pie. Of course Coach got selected and ended up getting pied in the face by Gunner man himself. I have a photo below. The cheerleaders even asked me to get in on the fun of the day, by participating in a couple of cheers. See my skills in photos below. Then it was time for the game. Jackets came out on top! We are on to the Elite 8! Record: 12-0 Next Opponent: Roswell Hornets at home in The Jacket's Nest TCC Jackets 49 - Evans Knights 10Round 1 is Done! During this time of the season, I'm a big ball of nerves. There are times a make myself physically sick with worry about a game. One lost during this time of the year and it's over. So, I never take a team lightly. It is important to be 1-0 each week; cause you have to start over. I was sad for Evans. Why you ask? The team came, but their cheerleaders and band did not. I am not sure why? Those students sacrifice long, hot summer days and deserve to see the season all the way through. Due to Tropical Storm Nicole, we canceled school for Thursday. Our field was soaked Friday morning. I am so thankful for our Facilities Department and Booster Club; they worked tirelessly Friday to get the field as dry as possible. They even purchased a HELICOPTOR to come and dry off the field a little. Our field was painted checkered board in honor of the 1992 State Championship Team. But just like the 1st sentence states Round 1 is Done. The Jackets are 1-0 this week! The 24 hour rule is in effect, because we are Second Round Bound! Record: 11-0 Next Opponent: St. Pius X Golden Lions at Home in The Jacket's Nest TCC Jackets 24 - Northside Eagles 14Week 12 is under way! To say that achieving a perfect season is hard. It is a rare takes lots of work and the willingness to walk around with a target on your back. We had to head back to what I consider my hometown, Warner Robins, to face the Northside Eagles. This game was for all the marbles; a perfect season and a must-win to clinch the Region Championship. Needless to say, I had to cry and pop some confetti cannons cause the Jackets slayed another Goliath! We achieved the perfect season! Thank you all for the many prayers and words of encouragement this week. It means the world. Next Stop - Round 1 of the Playoffs! Record: 10-0 Next Opponent: Evans High Knights at Home in The Jacket's Nest TCC Jackets 42 - Houston County Bears 21Does anyone else feel like their check engine light is on? I do; after my PET Scan on Wednesday, I came home to a sick child. Gunner-Man test positive for Flu A and being treated for Strep even though he didn't test positive. That meant he had to miss tonight's game. I am so thankful, my mom was able to keep him so that I could go. This game was served as our Homecoming, Senior Night, and a huge region match-up. I actually asked could I run the flag for this game since it was Pink Out for Breast Cancer! Thank goodness, I didn't get ran over or trip and fall! The first half was tit-for-tat, we scored they scored. It was like whoever had the ball last was going to win the game. So where so how during the second half the Jackets turned it on! Although, I might make very loud comments during the game I very rarely comment on officiating on the internet socials, but the officiating crew we had missed three very big calls for us; a targeting call on one of our receivers, a pass interference on another receiver and 3) roughing the kicker call. I am very disappointed, but some how we were able overcome and pull out the win! I am so thankful and excited. No family photo this game, but there is a good one of me and coach! Record: 8-0 Next Opponent: Lee County Trojans Fall BreakI don't know about y'all, but I earned my Fall Break! And whoever made the football schedule - thank you for the bye week during the school break! We started out our week by making a trip to Perry to visit with my brother- and sister-in-law. We went to the Georgia National Fair! We got to see my best friend's daughter show her cow, ate all the wonderful fair food, and ride some fun rides.
On Tuesday, Gunner and I headed to The Happiest Place on Earth - Magic Kingdom to attend Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! It was awesome! Most rides were walk on, we saw great characters, the wonderful parade, and the Hocus Pocus Show! A Must-Do this time of year! Thursday was a Boys Only Day - Gunner man went to practice with Coach and got to go bowling with the team. Later that evening, they went to the demolition derby! Saturday, we spent the day with our football family eating oysters and watching college football! Record: 7-0 Next Opponent: Houston County Bears TCC Jackets 42 - Tift Blue Devils 7Well, it was not pretty game. It was an ugly 1st half. We just could not get anything going. I don't normally bash an officiating crew on social media, but last night's crew was awful. I would not have been surprised to learn that they were getting a cut of the gate. I also broke my cowbell in half! Lucky for me, another wife came in clutch with tape! I am not sure if it is going to make it but I am going to give it the college try and have it welded together again! At halftime it was tied 7-7. One thing my coach and the rest of the staff does well is make second half adjustments. And that's exactly what happened. The second half was all Jackets! Record: 7-0 Next Opponent: BYE Week #2 |
